This study aimed to investigate the relationship between college students’ motives for using games in their daily lives and playing gachas, and to obtain basic knowledge for understanding their motives for playing gachas and essential knowledge for developing games involving gachas. We surveyed 264 university students enrolled in information- related faculties on the “game uses and gratifications” and “motives for doing gacha” items and examined the relationship between the two using correlation and canonical correlation analysis. The results revealed a tendency for users to have strong motives for messing around.Downloads
